Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been mega busy over the last few weeks organising a festival, gigs & a full time job.
So whats been happening :-
Delphic have just completed a UK tour which was really well received. I managed to catch them at The Cockpit on the first night of the tour. It was a Sunday night & I was blown away at how the crowd reacted. It was like a Saturday night, not a night where you have the fear of dread about going back to your 9 - 5 the following morning.
The band have also announced a European tour which you can see in the tour dates section to the left.
Now for the interesting bit. The band are playing ''Collections'' in full over three nights in July as part of the Manchester International Festival. These will be very special shows indeed as they feature musicians from around the globe who have influenced the album. The capacity of the venue is 350 (The Pavillion Theatre) so very small. Get your tickets fast!!
Not only that the band will be playing Liverpool Sound City in May & Parklife Festival in June. I've got a funny feeling Glastonbury & Leeds Festival will be announced soon!! Watch this space!!

Collections : Broken Down : Tears Before Bedtime & The Sun Also Rises
Tears Before Bedtime.
Track 6 on the album Tears Before Bedtime is a slowed down number. Not what you'd normally associate with Delphic. None the less it works well & breaks the album up nicely.
The Sun Also Rises
This is going to be the soundtrack to every montage over the Summer months. You can see it being played at the end of the Ashes & Wimbledon coverage on TV. Its a belter very powerful in lyrics, you can really feel the passion in this one

Collections : Broken Down : Freedom Found & Atlas
Freedom Found
Again another well produced track. Slowed down tempo compared with Acolyte. Tracks 4 & 5 are the ones that make the album for me. Its another track that builds up to an epic climax.
Atlas
This is the standout track from the album. One which was written even before Acolyte hit the shelves. Atlas started life whilst the band were waiting to go on Jools Holland's TV show way back in 2009. You can really see these two tunes featuring on highlights packages for most sporting events in the next 12 months. Both sound huge!!

Collections : Broken Down : Baiya & Changes Reviews
Baiya Review
The second track on Collections is 'Baiya' (the first single to be released from the album).
Again another glorious intro, this time using a string orchestra effect on the build up. The track builds up to a great ending at around 3:05 when James & Rick almost bring the record to an end only to build it up to a busy ending. One that on first listen leaves you picking your jaw up from the floor.
Check the video for Baiya below
Changes Review
The third track is "Changes" & a personal favourite of mine. This really does have a hip hop vibe about it. James spitting the lyrics from 0:25. The way Delphic have managed to pluck the synth/electronica from "Acolyte" & slow it down are amazing. When i saw the band in late 2012 they played this in Sheffield & if I'm honest i overlooked it. I have since found a love for it.

Collections : Broken Down : 'Of The Young' Review
I was fortunate to receive a copy of Collections as an early Xmas present from the band in late December. Having been on my car stereo constantly since i thought I'd give you a track by track review.
Of The Young Review
First up is opener 'Of The Young' starting off slow, with a brilliant instrumental intro which flows in to James Cooks vocals at around 30 seconds. This track is made for the opening track of any Delphic live show. The production levels are high & you can really hear the hip hop influence in this one.
At around 2:40 Rick comes in to his own with some beats and a gospel backing track. This could quite easily be on 'The Black Album' for me.
I could see this as the opening track on the forthcoming tour. Doubt would follow suit perfectly for me.
As Delphic did with 'Clarion Call' on 'Acolyte' their opener sets the scene for the whole album.
A great start!!!
Coming next Baiya

Night & Day
It was about 10:50 when Delphic took to the stage on Wednesday 28th November as part of Night & Days 21st Birthday celebrations.
The band played a very similar set to that of the recent tour, but this time included another new song Freedom Found.
This was the second time i have seen them in recent weeks and i have to say it was an improvement on the Sheffield show. James & Ricks harmonies were extremely tight tonight & the new songs sounded bigger and better. Collections is going to be big, Acolyte 2.0 it is not.
This is a band who are breaking boundaries & getting away from the norm. Roll on 28th January.

Inspirations Collected
Following the recent announcement that Delphic's long-awaited second LP entitled 'Collections' is to be released imminently (Jan 28th, Polydor), the band have now dropped a prequel to the album, in the form of a 30 minute mixtape of music that proved inspirational in the creation of their new record. In the bands words; 'When you go off the radar for two years and not even NASA can pick you up, you need a reminder of where you've been. Prize off the lid and take a look inside our musical BlackBox.'
